Advertising policy

Advertising, on our terms.

No advertising runs on LegalSnaps today. This page sets out what we would carry if that changes, what we will never carry, and where an ad will never appear.

No advertising runs on LegalSnaps today. There are no ad networks, ad scripts or sponsored snaps on the site. We will update this page and our privacy policy before that changes.

What we would accept

  • Banks, insurers and fintech companies regulated in India
  • Tax-filing and accounting services
  • Legal-document and e-stamp services
  • Education and skilling
  • Government and public-service campaigns

What we will not accept

  • Advocates and law firms. Bar Council of India rules restrict advocates from advertising or soliciting work, so we will not carry ads for them, directly or through anyone else.
  • Instant-loan apps.
  • Betting, real-money gaming and crypto.
  • Astrology or anything else that promises to solve legal problems.
  • Anything a snap on the same page warns against.

Where an ad will never appear

  • On sensitive and safety pages — abuse, violence, harassment, self-harm and the like. A reader there may be reading about their own day.
  • On the paywall.
  • On emergency pages and helpline numbers.
  • For readers under 18.
  • For subscribers. They pay not to see ads.

Every ad labelled as an ad

Any ad would be marked as an advertisement, in the reader's language, and set apart from the snap. It would never be made to look like a snap or like legal information.

We would follow the Advertising Standards Council of India's code for advertising content, and the Central Consumer Protection Authority's 2022 guidelines on misleading advertisements. In short: claims must be true and backed up, fine print must not contradict or hide the main claim, and a paid endorsement must say that it is paid.

Advertisers do not touch the snaps

Advertisers do not choose, write or review snaps, and paying for an ad does not change what any snap says. Before any advertising starts, the privacy policy will say what, if anything, an advertiser receives.
