Information, not advice
Everything on LegalSnaps is general information about Indian law, written to help you understand your situation. It is not legal advice about your particular facts, and reading it, writing to us or using our tools does not make LegalSnaps or any contributor your lawyer.
Speak to a lawyer before you act
Deadlines, procedure and outcomes depend on details we cannot see. Before you file, sign, pay or decide anything important, take advice from a qualified advocate. If you cannot afford one, the Legal Services Authorities may give you a lawyer free of charge.
Law changes
We write from the law in force when each snap was last checked, and show that date on the snap. Laws, rules and judgments change, sometimes quickly. Check the source named on the snap, or ask a lawyer, before relying on a rule.
Mistakes
We work hard to be accurate, but we can be wrong or incomplete. If you find an error, please tell us from the Contact page with the snap's link — we check every report and correct what needs correcting.
Translations
Snaps are written in English first. A translation may lag behind the English, and one that a native speaker has not yet checked says so. Where they differ, the English text is the one we stand behind.
Other websites
We link to government portals, courts and helplines so you can reach them. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability.
Emergencies
LegalSnaps is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, call 112. Women's helpline 181, child helpline 1098, cyber crime 1930.
